2024 Honda Prologue

The long-anticipated debut of the Honda Prologue, the brand’s first-ever all-electric SUV, represents the company’s commitment to moving towards zero emissions. Developed in collaboration with General Motors, the Prologue promises exceptional range of nearly 300 miles per charge. Its sloped roomy cabin also provides plenty of comfort while passengers are surrounded by high-tech equipment.

Prologue drivers will brush off any thoughts of range anxiety thanks to Honda’s generosity and advanced charging solutions. It is the first company to offer charging credits among several networks throughout the United States, and the Ultium platform’s compatibility with EVgo, Electrify America, and Tesla Superchargers provides more flexibility than other EV owners currently enjoy. (Electrify America gives public charging at 60 kWh with the packages at no extra cost.) A new HondaLink Smartphone App also helps drivers find the nearest stations, pay for the charge, enroll in subscriptions, and redeem complimentary credits, and every trim level has a status screen that clearly shows the level of charge in real-time.

As an electric vehicle, the new Prologue includes an 8-year/100,000-mile electric component warranty and 2 years or 24,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance (tire rotations and multipoint inspections).

Trims and Powertrains

The Prologue’s three trim levels are the EX, Touring, and Elite. Standard on the first two is a front-wheel drivetrain propelled by a single motor with an output of 212 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque. All-wheel drive is standard on the Elite (and available on the EX and Touring) with dual motors that unite to produce 228 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. of torque. The towing maximum for all trims is 1,500 pounds.

The Prologue provides a standard EPA-estimated driving range of 296 miles per charge with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive changes that rating to 281 miles, while the Elite can go up to 271 miles on a full charge. The EPA has determined that the MPGe ratings for the EX and Touring with front-wheel drive are 107 city/91 highway and 101 city/88 highway with all-wheel drive. The Elite is rated at 99 city/84 highway).

When it’s plugged in to a DC fast charger of up to 150 kW, the Prologue’s 85 kWh battery pack will accumulate 62 to 65 miles (depending on the trim and configuration) of driving range in 10 minutes. Fast charging can take the battery from 20% to 80% in just 35 minutes. A standard 240-volt outlet will supply about 34 miles of range for each hour of plugged-in time. Kinetic energy formed during the stopping process can be stored in the battery to add to the range in small increments. Drivers can use the steering wheel-mounted paddles to control their desired degree of regenerative braking.

Standard Features

Kicking off the lineup, the EX has cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, a manually adjustable passenger seat, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, four USB ports (two front/two rear), two 12V power outlets (front and cargo area), access to the HondaLink system connected by OnStar, a 60/40-split rear seat, LED exterior lighting (headlights, turn indicators, and daytime running lights), heated side mirrors, rear privacy glass, and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

The Touring adds leather upholstery, a panoramic moonroof, a six-way power-adjustable passenger seat, a power tailgate with hands-free access, a steering wheel wrapped in leather, two-position driver’s seat memory, an automatic-dimming rearview mirror, LED fog lights, roof rails, and a rear welcome light (with kick sensor). The Elite takes luxury a notch further with ventilated front seats, a head-up display, a heated windshield-wiper zone, a 110V power outlet (rear console), an illuminated interior package (foot wells, beverage holders, and door panels), welcome lights on the outside mirrors, and 21-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids

Every Prologue trim has the Honda Sensing suite of driver-assist technologies, which consists of forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, side blind zone alert with steering assist, adaptive cruise control, lane change alert, rear cross-traffic alert and braking, reverse automatic braking, auto high-beam headlights, and rear park assist. Traffic sign recognition is available with the OnStar data package, while the Elite and Touring add front park assist. The Elite also gets rear pedestrian alert and a surround-vision camera system.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is standard in the debuting Prologue. This Google built-in system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The base EX receives a sound system with six speakers, while the Touring and Elite upgrade to a premium Bose unit with 12 speakers.
