2025 Honda Pilot
Honda continues to tweak the recipe for the fourth-generation Honda Pilot, a necessary step in staying ahead of the competition in the three-row utility vehicle segment. For 2025, the automaker has revamped the Pilot lineup by dropping the entry-level LX and adding the sharply styled Black Edition as the top grade. The result is more standard features, like heated front seats and a power driver’s seat, on the now-base Sport trim. With its unique exterior and interior aesthetic enhancements and loaded equipment list, the Black Edition offers buyers a more exclusive Pilot that stands apart in more ways than one.

Trims and Powertrain
Honda's lineup for the 2025 Pilot includes the Sport, EX-L, Touring, TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition trims. A 285-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine forms the powertrain with a 10-speed automatic transmission with shift-by-wire and paddle shifters. Buyers can choose from either front-wheel drive (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) on the Sport, EX-L, and Touring, while all-wheel drive (AWD) comes standard on the TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition. The Pilot's towing capacity reaches 5,000 pounds with AWD and 3,500 pounds with FWD. The EPA rates the fuel economy of FWD Pilots at 19 mpg around town and 27 mpg on the highway. AWD versions achieve 25 mpg on the highway, except for the TrailSport, which is rated to return 18 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
Standard Features
The Sport trim's equipment roster is comprehensive, with key features that include seating for eight,
proximity keyless entry, fabric upholstery, heated front seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, a
ten-way power driver's seat, push-button start, a four-way power front passenger seat, LED exterior
lighting, LED fog lights, and remote start. This base trim also gets rear privacy glass, power side
mirrors, roof rails, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, a 7-inch
driver information display, four USB ports, and 20-inch wheels. Honda gives the Pilot EX-L more premium
touches such as leather upholstery, second-row climate controls, a power tailgate, a driver's position
memory system, heated power side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals, sound-reducing windshield
glass, rear-door sunshades, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 18-inch wheels.
The TrailSport
has second-row captain’s chairs, which reduces the passenger capacity to seven. It also gets some
off-road credentials thanks to increased ground clearance, a custom-tuned suspension, front and rear
recovery points, all-terrain tires, and underbody skid plates. This trim’s premium touches include a
panoramic moonroof, a heated steering wheel, a heated wiper zone, leatherette upholstery with orange
accents, gloss-black exterior treatments, and a trailer hitch. The eight-seat Touring drops the
TrailSport’s off-road gear, black exterior accents, heated steering wheel, and heated wiper zone in
favor of leather upholstery, a more versatile second row with a stowable middle seat, a hands-free
tailgate, enhanced proximity keyless entry (for rear door access), LED cabin lighting, sound-reducing
glass for the front side doors, and 20-inch wheels.
The Elite builds upon the Touring with
perforated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row outboard seats, a
heated steering wheel, a head-up display, a heated wiper zone, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster,
and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Black Edition is equipped like the Elite but with namesake
blackout exterior treatments, red interior accents, and red interior lighting.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Honda Sensing comes standard on every 2025 Pilot and includes forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitor, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition. A multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines and a camera washer comes standard as well. The EX-L and above get front and rear parking sensors and low-speed braking control (for parking and low-speed maneuvering). TrailWatch, a camera system that helps while driving near off-road obstructions, is exclusive to the TrailSport, Elite, and Black Edition trims. Every trim has traction control, stability control, anti-lock brakes, and a full array of airbags.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Sport features a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with a seven-speaker sound system, while the EX-L and above come with a 9-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker arrangement. The Touring, Elite, and Black Edition models get a 12-speaker Bose system. All 2025 Pilots feature Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and hands-free text messaging support. SiriusXM satellite radio, a cabin intercom system, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are standard on the EX-L and above. The Touring, Elite, and Black Edition get navigation as well as access to HondaLink connected services and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
