2025 Honda Civic Hatchback
The eleventh-generation Honda Civic debuted for the 2022 model year with great fanfare, but one the most eco-conscious fans of this nameplate were missing something: a hybrid powerplant. For model year 2025, Honda has revamped the Civic to include a gas-electric option for both the sedan and hatchback body styles. Aside from that, the automaker executed an exterior refresh featuring a more aggressive front end and revised exterior lighting.
The 2025 Civic Hatchback variant has also changed. The lineup is simplified to three trims, with hybrid power serving the top two. Last year’s turbocharged 1.5-liter engine is gone in favor of the 200-horsepower hybrid powertrain. The six-speed manual transmission has also been eliminated (if you prefer self-shifting, you’ll have to turn to the Civic Si or the Civic Type R).

Trims and Powertrains
Honda offers the Civic Hatchback in three trim choices: Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. The Sport gets a 150-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while the higher trims are equipped with a hybrid powertrain teaming that engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 200 horsepower. The Sport comes with paddle shifters for added drive control, while the gas-electric trims have deceleration selectors.
All three trims have a front-wheel drivetrain, with the power channeled through a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The Sport has been found by the EPA to achieve 30 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. Fuel economy increases significantly for both hybrid trims to 50 mpg around town and 45 mpg on the open road.
Standard Features
The 2025 Civic Hatchback Sport mixes basic features with some conveniences, getting fabric upholstery, proximity keyless entry, LED exterior lighting, automatic climate control, push-button start, heated power side mirrors, a 7-inch driver information display, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, rear-seat heat/AC ducts, a leather-wrapped shift knob, two USB ports, and 18-inch wheels. The Sport Hybrid adds more amenities, including a power moonroof, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver's seat, variable intermittent windshield wipers, and a rear-seat center armrest with cup holders.
The Sport Touring Hybrid reaches for upscale territory with additional desirable features. Those include leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel a four-way power front passenger seat, a 10.2-inch driver information display, heated power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, rain-sensing intermittent windshield wipers, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and wireless device charging.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
All 2025 Civic Hatchbacks have Honda Sensing installed. This suite of advanced driver-assist technologies consists of forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a blind-spot monitor, a rear cross-traffic monitor, traffic jam assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, traffic sign recognition, a rear-seat reminder, and automatic high beams. The Sport Touring Hybrid also gets front and rear parking sensors and low-speed braking control (automatic forward and reverse braking during low-speed maneuvering). Every trim has a rearview monitor with dynamic guidelines that supplies views from multiple angles.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The Sport and Sport Hybrid feature a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the Sport Touring Hybrid has a 9-inch touchscreen. Both systems have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (the connection is wireless in the Sport Touring Hybrid), Bluetooth, Google built-in (for Google Maps, Google Assistant, and other services), a text messaging assistant, and support for the HondaLink smartphone app. The Sport Touring Hybrid adds access to a Wi-Fi hotspot. Audio is delivered through an eight-speaker system in the Sport and Sport Hybrid; as the topmost trim, the Sport Touring Hybrid receives a Bose upgrade with 12 speakers.
