Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy

The 2024 Pilot offers six trim levels – LX, Sport, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, and Elite – with each catering to varied driver preferences. While most versions can accommodate up to eight passengers, the EX-L and TrailSport substitute second-row captain’s chairs for a seven-passenger seating capacity.

Beneath the hood, all trims get a 285 hp (262 lb.-ft. of torque) 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While front-wheel drive is standard, the ’24 Pilot can be upgraded with all-wheel drive (although it is standard on the TrailSport and Elite). The towing capacity with FWD caps at 3,500 lb., but AWD raises the maximum to 5,000 lb. Each trim also boasts a series of selectable drive modes (Normal, ECON, Snow, Tow, and Sport); AWD-equipped models get additional called Trail and Sand.

Fuel efficiency is important to most drivers, who’ll be pleased to know that FWD Pilots achieve an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. This changes slightly to 19 city/25 highway for most AWD trims, except for the TrailSport, which returns 18 city/23 highway.

The LX is given a nice array of amenities, including automatic LED headlights, proximity keyless entry for both front doors and tailgate, tri-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear privacy glass, and convenient 60/40-split rear seats that fold with a single touch in the second row.
