The Civic Type R presents a high-performance take on the trusty Honda Civic, the automaker’s
longest-running nameplate. The 2024 Civic Type R is the fastest Civic ever, having beaten out the 2021
Type R with a recent lap time of 2 minutes and 23 seconds at the Suzuka Circuit. Type R drivers will
feel the thrills with confidence, as the car remains firmly planted on the road, even during spirited
cornering. This high-output model is unusual in that it’s made exclusively with a rev-matching six-speed
manual transmission, to the great delight of driving purists.
The Civic Type R is also meant to
look good while heading down the blacktop. Its aerodynamic style is dominated by a large rear spoiler
and complemented with sleek lines, for an overall look that attracts many admiring eyes. With vibrant
paint colors available, such as Rallye Red and Boost Blue Pearl, you can customize yours to bring you as
much attention as you prefer. It also comes with 2 years/24,000 miles of Honda Service Pass
complimentary scheduled maintenance (tire rotations, oil changes, and multipoint inspections).
Trims and Powertrains
Honda builds the Civic Type R in one trim level with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (output: 315 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft. of torque. Its 6-speed manual transmission with rev match control keeps the vehicle and engine speeds perfectly in sync during downshifting. With each stage of the 4-mode drive system, the triple-outlet exhaust supplies a nice roaring tone. The standard dual-axis MacPherson front strut suspension provides the ultimate steering response. Honda’s LogR datalogger comes standard as well to record track activity and achievements and provide feedback on how to improve lap times. The Civic Type R seats four passengers in its red/black suede-effect fabric sport seats (highly bolstered
in the front row) with double red stitching. The red theme continues to its ambient LED interior
lighting, floor mats, and badging. This performance hatch’s other standout attributes are an aluminum
shift knob, sport pedals, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel,
wireless device charging, two USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, push-button start, and a 60/40-split
fold-down rear seatback. The exterior styling highlight are an aluminum hood, a triple-outlet exhaust,
LED headlights, LED brake and taillights, red Honda “H” badging, gloss black side sills and a wing

Honda offers some optional packages such as the R
