Sport

This base Pilot gets the traditional bench seat to accommodate three passengers in the middle row (eight-person total capacity). The front seats are heated, and there are three zones of automatic climate control. Some of the other noteworthy amenities for this trim level are roof rails, LED headlights (auto on/off) and fog lights, LED interior lighting, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 7-inch driver information interface, push-button ignition, rear privacy glass, Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock, and a reversible dual-level cargo floor. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a sound system with seven speakers and a subwoofer. You’ll find a USB-A smartphone/audio interface and a 12V outlet in the front console and a pair of USB-A charge ports in the second row.

As part of the redesign, the Honda Sensing active safety technology suite has been improved and expanded. The Sport now gets traffic sign recognition and traffic jam assist along with adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist features, automatic high beams, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention monitor.

EX-L

Moving up a trim level expands the Pilot’s features with leather upholstery, a power tailgate, a sound-absorbing windshield, a 15-watt wireless phone charge pad, second-row climate control settings, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink, second-row sunshades (manually operated), a deep hidden cargo-area storage compartment, and improved exterior mirrors: they're heated and have integrated turn-signal indicators, position memory, and reverse gear tilt-down. Road trips are made even better with standard second-row captain's chairs (the bench seat can be added back at the time of ordering) and Honda's CabinTalk in-car PA system. The middle passengers also get handy smartphone pockets that are built in to the front-row seatbacks.

Low-speed braking control and front and rear parking sensors are added to the safety suite at this level. The infotainment setup is enhanced significantly with a customizable 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD radio, and an additional pair of speakers. A 12-volt outlet is added to the cargo area, and the third row receives two USB-A charge ports.

TrailSport

This strictly seven-passenger trim’s most outstanding differences relate to its ruggedness, starting with a sport-tuned suspension, all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels, higher ground clearance, and a series of protective skid plates. It also comes from the factory with an integrated Class III trailer hitch, front and rear recovery points, all-weather floor mats, tough simulated leather seats with orange contrast stitching, and Honda’s TrailWatch monitoring system. On the purely upscale side, it gets a heated steering wheel, a panoramic moonroof, power-folding side mirrors, heated windshield wipers, and a household-type 110-volt outlet.

Touring

The Touring is built to carry eight passengers, with a middle-row three-person bench with a center seat that can be removed and stored. It’s equipped similarly to the EX-L, with the addition of a moonroof, a hands-free liftgate, sound-deadening front-door glass, ambient interior lighting, and a deluxe version of Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock that works on all of the doors. A Bose system with multi-zone audio and 12 speakers improves the infotainment situation, as do navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and voice recognition capability.

Elite

Only the Elite gets perforated leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, auto-dimming power-folding side mirrors, heated rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED lighting on the doors, and a 10.2-inch digital gauge cluster. Like the TrailSport, it has a household-style 110V outlet.
