A highly capable, and connected SUV.

The 2022 Honda CR-V is one of the most recognizable and desirable compact crossovers in the industry. It slots between the subcompact HR-V and midsized Passport, making it a terrific choice for anyone who needs a vehicle that’s small enough to navigate busy environments and park with ease yet practical enough to seat five and carry their gear. Not only that, but the ’22 CR-V’s sleek exterior profile, feature-filled cabin, and agreeable pricing make it a compelling choice for shoppers looking to get the most bang for their buck – plus it comes with Honda’s reputation for longevity and reliability. For the current model year, the Touring trim level comes standard with all-wheel drive, which was an optional upgrade for the outgoing CR-V.

Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy

The LX, Special Edition, EX, EX-L, and Touring make up the 2022 Honda CR-V’s quintet of trim levels. They all have a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 190 hp and 179 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s coupled with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Most trims receive a standard front-wheel drivetrain; however, all-wheel drive – which is standard on the Touring as mentioned above – is optional. According to the EPA, the FWD models achieve an estimated 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, whereas the AWD ones return 27 city/32 highway.

Standard Features

Some specifics of the LX’s standard list are automatic on/off headlights, automatic high beams, keyless entry, automatic climate control, a USB audio interface (in the front console), a 12-volt power outlet, an overhead console sunglasses holder, and an easy-folding 60/40-split rear seatback with a center armrest. The Special Edition gains Smart Entry with Walk Away Auto Lock (Honda’s advanced keyless entry and exit system), push-button ignition, dual-zone auto climate control, and heated front seats. The EX comes with LED fog lights, heated exterior mirrors with built-in turn-signal indicators, rear privacy glass, a moonroof, illuminated vanity mirrors, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a front passenger’s seatback pocket, and a retractable cargo area cover. The EX-L adds a power tailgate, leather upholstery (for the seat, steering wheel, and shift knob), position memory settings for the driver’s seat, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. The Touring sits at the top of the range with a hands-free liftgate, two chrome exhaust ports, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, LED headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, roof rails, and ambient interior lighting.

Safety

The Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety technologies is included on every 2022 CR-V. This package consists of forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are added to the EX and above.

Technology Features

The LX comes with a simple infotainment setup that consists of a 5-inch central display screen, Bluetooth for hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a four-speaker sound system. The Special Edition adopts a more sophisticated system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker sound system. The EX adds SiriusXM satellite radio, while the EX-L upgrade its sound with twice as many speakers (for a total of eight). The Touring gets the most deluxe multimedia unit, as it bundles in integrated navigation and a premium nine-speaker audio system.
