Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Efficiency
Honda’s 2025 HR-V is a five-passenger subcompact crossover offered in three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L. Their powertrain pairs a 158 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Front-wheel drive is standard, but any trim can be upgraded with all-wheel drive. The EPA’s official fuel economy estimation for the FWD version is 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, while HR-Vs with AWD achieve an estimated 25 city/30 highway.
Notable Features
The LX is a well-stocked base trim that features remote keyless entry, cloth-upholstered seats,
push-button ignition, automatic climate control (single zone), a 7-inch driver information display,
automatic on/off LED headlights, power-adjustable side mirrors, manually adjustable front seats, a
60/40-split folding rear seatback, and three USB ports (one data and two Type-C charging). The Sport
adds heated front seats, proximity keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob,
heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, gloss-black exterior accents, a sportier grille, chrome
exhaust pipes, and rear privacy glass.
While the EX-L doesn’t get the Sport’s more dramatic
flourishes (the gloss-black accents, sport grille, and chrome exhaust pipes), but it retains the other
features mentioned. It also gains leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a wireless phone
charger, a moonroof, a second zone for the automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror,
and ambient LED interior lighting.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Technologies
The Honda Sensing suite of advanced driving aids comes standard in the 2025 HR-V, providing collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high beams. The Sport and EX-L also receive blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, but the EX-L takes things even further with front and rear parking sensors and low-speed braking control. All trims also have a multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic gridlines, vehicle stability assist with traction control, and anti-lock brakes.
Staying Connected and Entertained
The LX and Sport come with a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, HondaLink, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. While the LX has a basic four-speaker sound system, the Sport gets six speakers. The EX-L flaunts the most sophisticated setup, with a customizable 9-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connect (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, and an eight-speaker audio system.
